TEACHING PRACTICE The teaching practice, which is a compulsory part of B.Ed Programme is scheduled in the second semester for six weeks in a secondary/ Higher secondary school level. All students have to undergo 40 days of teaching practice with 30 lesson plan in their concerned subjects. The concerned faculty shall educate and supervise the teaching competence of those students. As we know ‘Practice make the perfection of any Art’, the theory is to be coupled with practice. The process involves skills of introduction, questioning, explanation, stimulus variation, reinforcement, black board work etc.
As a first step the teacher trainee is equipped to plan a lesson. Lesson planning is one of the important aspects of B.Ed Programme. A number of discussion lessons make the trainee to handle a class effectively. The trainee is trained to evaluate student’s achievement at intervals and to assess the weakness of the students and finally has to conclude the lesson effectively.
The trainees are made to learn Educational Philosophy and educational Psychology and Technology through various processes. The trainee is given chances to observe ‘Demonstration’ classes by competent and experienced teachers. This activity makes him to present theory in practice in a better way.
Micro teaching lessons are introduced which enrich the student – teacher’s teaching skills and competence. Later it will be evaluated by the supervisory teacher and his classmates, based on a criticism criteria.
After all these process, the student teacher is confident enough to proceed for teaching practice for thirty days duration in an Aided State Board School.
MICRO TEACHING It is the most important aspects of B.Ed curriculum Micro teaching keeps the trainees to acquire the skills needed to become effective teacher. Students take classes, prepare CDs and other teaching aids and thus become the skilled teachers. Students are properly trained and participate in demonstration, observation and criticism classes. This enables the trainees to do teaching practice effectively. Senior teachers demonstrated the lessons. They demonstrate micro teaching, criticism classes and evaluatory aspects. Thus students are thoroughly equipped with necessary skills for their practice teaching for 40 days in the school.
